Welcome to Deep South, home to Cork’s best beer garden and one of the city’s most iconic venues. Formerly known as Sir Henry’s, a legendary venue steeped in history and culture, Deep South continues to honour its rich heritage while offering a vibrant atmosphere for locals and visitors alike.

Sir Henry’s was a rock bar for the best part of the 1980s. Many of Ireland’s up-and-coming young bands performed here and the ‘Battle of the Bands’ was held in the venue for a number of years where unsigned talent battled it out for a recording contract with some of the industry’s most prosperous record labels at the time. Artists that performed in Sir Henry’s over the years included Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy), John Martyn and The Pogues. On the 20 August 1991, Sonic Youth played Sir Henry’s, supported by the then virtually unknown but now infamous Kurt Cobain and Nirvana.

Tracing back to its days as Sir Henry’s, a pioneering hub for music and
community in Cork, Deep South carries on the tradition of providing
exceptional entertainment and a warm, welcoming environment. Whether you’re seeking a cozy spot to unwind with friends, a lively venue for music, or simply a taste of Cork’s unique heritage, Deep South is your destination.
